MM on M

When the Man speaks, you would want to listen what he has to say. Yes Mentor Minister Lee Kuan Yew has this to say at Nomura Asia Equity Forum yesterday on Malaysia.

"You look at Malaysia. The economy. It is one of the wealthiest countries in the region. It's got oil, it's got gas, it's got palm oil. All the commodities it has. It's also got manufacturing sector.

But suddenly, it's trapped in some political-cum personal difficulties of charges and counter-charges which can only be bad for the economy. I think the KL Stock Exchange has gone down by 20 per cent. I dont't track it, but I know it's down.

If you have confidence that this will be resolved in six months or one year, then you buy. If it's not resolved and it goes down another 20 per cent, then you've lost........."

Well at least we're the talk of the town, but it's for all the wrong reasons.............so when are we starting work to patch up Malaysia's economy and social woes faced by the people in this tough times?

Meltdown

In Apr 3rd, Billionaire George Soros called the current financial crisis the worst since the Great Depression.

In Jul 7th, UOB Chairman and CEO Mr Wee Cho Yaw said that the end is still not in sight for the damaging fallout from the United States sub-prime mortgage crisis and expects the crisis to take one to two years to stabilise. He said he was frightened that the extent of the losses was hard to assess even now.

In Malaysia, we are still talking about statutory declarations and liwat and Pak Lah is talking about attempts to create perceptions of uneasiness and distrust among the people, via the Internet and SMS......

Hello, wake up wake up government of Malaysia..........

Hometown Food

Since we can get politics out of the way now, lets talk about food. Going back home, one of the things I always looked forward too is FOOD. How can I not miss those mouth watering food.

Remember I spoke before of the famous Kelang Lama laksa in my previous postings? That store is a branch taken care of by the owner's son. This is the original place where it all began. This area used to be just a small humble stall. Then it started to get bigger and bigger and before you know it, it has become the talk of the town. People basically throng the place to gobble on the laksa. So I tapao-ed 3 packets home.

Remember that I said before that I am proud that my hometown has a stall in Malaysia's Top 10 chicken rice stall ranking. Here you go. I grew up eating their mixed rice. I believe their secret lies in the sauce they pour onto the rice. And when I tasted their mixed rice I tapao home, oh boy...it still tastes the same when I tasted it 25 years back. Everytime my Mum is not in the kitchen cooking, she will get my Dad to buy back the mixed chicken rice. So eating it brings back nostalgic memories for me too.

Talking about breakfast, situated in the same coffee shop as the famous chicken rice, this curry mee stall is a must for me. I always felt that my trip back is not complete if I cant get a taste of this curry mee. Plus, the couple mending the store is friendly. What more can you ask for, if the food is simply superb and the seller is so friendly and its reasonably priced?

Yes yes, if you look at the pictures, you might say it looks gross. Just like Kenny Sia said that Pak Naseer's nasi lemak looks like...emmm. Well to me this RM1 nasi lemak is one of the best but yet simple nasi lemak I had tasted before. I still remember those days when I used to hangout at this stall at night, sipping teh tarik and eating the nasi lemak at RM0.60 per packet. They have a variety of nasi lemak I can choose from, sotong, ikan bilis, telur, ikan masin and others. I wanted to go for ikan masin but it was soldout. So I settled for ikan bilis and sotong. Dont let the the picture deceive you. One bite, and I guarantee you will be coming back for more.

The only miss for me this time was that I failed to taste my favourite bak kut teh. We went there on Fri night. It was closed. Damn. Now I need to remind myself that I should go there on any days except Fridays. So we went to this stall Good Master Bak Kut Teh. This stall used to be our favourite until we change our liking to the other stall. Its not that bad the taste but maybe I have higher expectations now for bak kut teh. The soup is simply no match with the sweetness and herbal fragrant taste of the other stall.

Ceramah Perdana - Seberang Jaya

Picture above courtesy of MalaysiaKini

Picture I took

Picture I took

When I was back in my hometown, little did I realise that the Prime Minister in waiting will be at Permatang Pauh for a ceramah on Sat night. Only upon seeing the poster and also from the internet, we knew that Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) will be at Tapak Ekspo Seberang Jaya, Permatang Pauh in Penang.

So after watching Hancock (the movie is quite good) and eating dinner at Northam ( the food is good as well), we dashed back to the mainland to catch DSAI in action. I for one knew that the spotlight will be on him since the PI Balasundram had retracted his statutory declaration a day earlier.

However the worst part was finding the venue. We had no idea where this place was. While we were driving stuck in a jam, someone on a 4 wheel drive told us to move our vehicle because Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang needs to rush to the venue. We were pleseantly suprised that he was polite in asking us to move our vehicle. We had expected some rowdy rude person. Then my sister saw, a car bearing plate no PG1 zooming away. So we sped as well trailing behind Guan Eng's car. Do take note that there was no police patrol car escorting our Ketua Menteri. This is what I call leading by example.

When we reached the venue, it was jam packed. We even saw a guy involved in a minor accident falling down from his motorcycle and helped by the policeman on duty there. No way we were going to find a spot to park. So we did what we needed to do. Me and my Dad and Mum got out of the car in the middle of the highway and walked on foot to the venue. My sister and the rest decided to give this a miss and went to some where else and pick us up later.

I estimated the crowd to be more than 10,000 people. When we reached there, fiery speeches were already fired. There was simply too many people that we resorted sitting at the back. From the pictures you can see that we were quite far away from the podium. And all of our butts were hurting as we sat on sand stone ground. I am for one glad that I managed to catch Guan Eng speaking. Well suprise suprise, our Prime Minister was there in Penang too but he was too shy I guess to annouce he was there according to Guan Eng. He is shy to explain to the people that projek rakyat has been cancelled.

The man of the night was DSAI. In his yellow batik shirt, he fired his first salvo saying that he is menyampah to layan the latest allegations against him. He also challenged Syed Hamid Albar to prove that he or Datin Seri Wan Azizah had contacted US on this matter. If he cant, he will need to apologized. He also hitted out on former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad for giving out millions to US lobbyists during his premiership.

In 2 months time, DSAI noted that things will be worst for the rakyat. Just mark my words, he said. He went on as well to touch on the role of IGP and AG 10 years ago on his trial. And how he wont trust those very same people to handle his case again.

He also chided Putera Umno chairperson Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim for challenging him to swear on the Quran and said that kalau nak kontrak cakap aje la.

In his closing speech he said that he is willing to forgive and forget, but those people keep coming back to charge him with this accusations. He will fight back this time.

And he said it again here "saya lawan pagi, saya lawan tengah hari, saya lawan petang dan saya lawan tengah malam" And he followed by saying that "Lawan Tetap...." the crowd in unison including myself shouted "LAWAN"!!!

Innocent

What Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) said here 2 nights ago in Stadium Melawati best sums up how the game will be played from now on straight from DSAI's mouth.

"I will fight. Saya lawan pagi, saya lawan tengah hari, saya lawan petang, saya lawan tengah malam. Dan saya tidak akan menyerah kalah terhadap segala fitnah dan taktik kotor ini"

A replay from the sodomy charges 10 years ago, which was eventually overturned in the Courts of Appeal, if its true that this is another komplot jahat by the powers at be, I agree that the powers at be can go mampus.

For one, I had enough of this evil plot that they are hatching. Stop it and please get back to work towards steering our country to the right path to weather through the stormy weather ahead.

And DSAI, for one fact alone that your charges were all false in the first place 10 years ago, I dont see why I cant put my trust in you again. I believed that you were beaten then with a black eye when many said you punched yourself. I did not believe the sodomy charges until it was overturned recently on a 2-1 decision by Courts of Appeal proving to the naysayers that you were innocent. I believe the Lingam tape was genuine when there were many doubting the authenticity.

Again I will put my believe in you that you are innocent..............let those who believe in this lies have mud spill on their own faces all over again.

R vs R

This is the latest article from The Star on Rosmah's response towards Raja Petra Kamaruddin (RPK) statutory declaration. And how coincident that Rosmah chose to make a statement after Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) is under investigation on a new charge on sodomy. And how timely as well that DSAI is supposedly making a poilice report later today on fresh evidence he has on AG and IGP on his case 10 years back.

Let me dissect Rosmah's statement below under Comment

Rosmah: I will not take action against Raja Petra
By LOH FOON FONG

KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor who is the wife of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will not sue Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin for alleging her involvement in the murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu.

“I have nothing to say. I have given my statement to the police and that’s it,” she said.

Asked if she would sue Raja Petra for defamation, she said she did not want to address unnecessary issues because she had other bigger things to attend to for the people and for the nation.
Comment: So we can say whatever we like now and she wont take action? She got bigger things to do for the people and for nation? I thought she is just a housewife of a politician? I suggest sue RPK's ass if he is lying on the statutory declaration. Right? RPK is so pompous. Sue him la...sue sue sue......berani terus sue dia lah

Asked why she would not address such a serious allegation, she said it did not matter.

“If you are innocent, what is there for you to address? I am not a politician and I am not running for any post. I’m just the wife of a politician,” she said Tuesday during the Asia-Pacific Conference on Children’s Book Publishing.
Comment: Really it doesnt matter? This is a serious case lah. Tuduhan yang berat ni. Guess folks we can all stay silent if we're accused wrongly next time.

On whether it was true that bomb expert Col Aziz Buyong’s wife, Norhayati, was her aide, Rosmah said she was not.

“She was not my ADC (aide de camp). She was just an officer who did all my programmes. She is not with me now. She had a promotion and is back with Mindef (the Defence Ministry),” she said.
Comment: So Rosmah did know her-lah. And she got promoted.Wow. She must had been an excellent hell of a worker. Bravo bravo.

In his June 18 statutory declaration, Raja Petra alleged to have knowledge that two lieutenant colonels and Rosmah were present when Altantuya’s body was blown up on Oct 19, 2006.
